Birmingham Checkmates

Club Details: Saturday morning club. Any junior players in the area are welcome to join Birmingham Checkmates' junior club on Saturday mornings. It takes place between 10.00-12 noon at the Quinborne Community Centre, on Ridgacre Road, Quinton.

 

The cost is £4/week (after the first week). Tuition is provided, and the club enters the UK Chess Challenge after Christmas. This offers a second chance to qualify for the Megafinal, just in case you don't qualify through your school.

Club Details: All junior players are welcome at our club from age 6 up to 16. At our club meetings we play Chess but we also have Go and some other board games. Most weeks we have around 20-30 players, with a good range of abilities from novice players to some who have qualified for the UK Chess Challenge Gigafinal. We have some teaching and club competitions as well as time for friendly games. We enter the UK Chess Challenge every year. The cost of our club is £1.50 per child per week.
